So, how does it protect you? Today, in this TELUS Online Security review, we will discuss its features, advantages, cost, and all you need to know about how this service can help you stay safer online.

What is TELUS Online Security?

TELUS Online Security is a cybersecurity software tool that helps protect your devices and online privacy and identity. Powered by Norton, which has a stellar track record of helping protect consumers’ devices and online privacy, TELUS now brings its world-class identity theft protection and restoration services to Canada as well. You do not need to be an existing TELUS customer to get protection. It is made available to all Canadians, regardless of their internet or mobile network provider.

In addition to keeping your online activity safer and allowing users to share information more securely from several devices, TELUS Online Security can help protect your online privacy with Secure VPN.

TELUS is a world-leading communications and information technology company with more than 15 million customer connections spanning wireless, data, IP, voice, television, entertainment, video and security, healthcare, and agriculture.

Why use TELUS Online Security?

In May 2020, TELUS partnered with Norton to launch TELUS Online Security to help Canadians protect their devices and data. As part of this partnership, customers can access the Arizona-based cyber security firm’s suite of services.

Amid an increasingly digitized world with school, work, and entertainment shifting online, especially in light of the Covid-19 pandemic, there is a growing need for online protection where 73% of Canadians report they’ve been targeted by fraudsters.± TELUS Online Security’s secure virtual private network (VPN) is of great help. Besides safety, when using local internet via Wi-Fi, the VPN provides a secure connection that helps protect your privacy online with bank-grade encryption.

An impressive feature available at TELUS is Dark Web Monitoring, which continuously searches the dark web and private forums for your information and notifies you if it’s found.

If you fall victim to online identity theft, a dedicated Identity Restoration Specialist is assigned to your case who will help you the entire process. Plus, subscribers are covered for up to $1 million in related expenses, depending on their plan.

How to use TELUS Online Security?

You get to choose from one of three plans available. Plans start from $10 per month, and the most comprehensive one will cost you $30 per month. Based on the plan, you get different features that get more advanced with each upgrade. Besides all-in-one protection for your connected devices and bank-grade encryption for online privacy, you also get Identity Theft Reimbursement Coverage3 when choosing the Standard, Complete, and Ultimate plans.

To set up the service, you must first create your account in the Norton portal. Once you have purchased a plan, you will receive an email with setup instructions. Just click the ‘Set up now’ button in the email. You can also access the services from your TELUS account. For this, log in and select ‘Manage’ next to your TELUS Online Security plan and click ‘Register to Activate/Sign In.’ You’ll then be directed to the Norton online portal to complete your setup.

Our Rating Process

With so many antivirus software options available on the market, it can get overwhelming really quickly. So, when searching for the best security solution, there are certain criteria that software should meet.

To make it easy for you, much like every other antivirus software, we have assessed TELUS Online Security solutions based on the four below-mentioned criteria and scored them each out of 5 points to help you in your decision process.

Comprehensive Protection – 5/5

A good security product must be comprehensive, including several security layers to protect you against modern cyber threats.

Much like its competitors, TELUS offers the usual real-time protection from online threats such as ransomware, viruses, spyware, and malware. But what really sets TELUS apart from the rest are the features like Dark Web Monitoring, Full-Service Identity Restoration, Credit Monitoring2, One-Bureau Credit Report and Credit Score4, and Identity Theft Reimbursement Coverage3.

Reliability– 4/5

Reliable protection is one of the most important criteria for choosing the best antivirus solution. So, what is it that makes a cyber safety solution a reliable security product? Well, for starters, it should provide up-to-date protection without causing conflicts with other programs and unwanted termination. And TELUS fits the bill perfectly as its protection is on par with industry standards but can be better, hence the rating.

Performance impact – 5/5

No one wants their computer performance to be affected, but with security programs demanding considerable computing resources, it is bound to happen. But TELUS ensures that its impact on your computer’s performance is minimal so that you can enjoy the same speed as before you installed your security product.

Usability – 4/5

Another critical criterion is the ease of use for both casual and knowledgeable users. Here, TELUS truly shines bright thanks to being easy to navigate. Moreover, it is easy to understand while providing you with documentation that you can find effortlessly.

When it comes to customer support, unlike its competitors, TELUS offers 24/7 support for TELUS Online Security and has tons of options for its customers to contact, viz. phone, live chat, and Twitter. They also have an abundance of knowledge support in the form of articles for common problems faced by users.
